The Asia Cup 2025 has now been officially confirmed. The tournament will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), made the official announcement.

He shared the update on social media, saying, "I am happy to confirm that the Asia Cup 2025 will be held in the UAE from September 9 to 28. We are expecting a great tournament. The detailed schedule of the matches will be shared soon."

Challenges Cleared After Tensions and Delays

The final decision was made after a meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in Dhaka. Earlier, political and diplomatic issues between India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh had created uncertainty. While the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) was chosen as the official host, they had to sort out commercial matters before confirming. There were also doubts due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, especially after recent military action called Operation Sindoor. However, the Indian government has now approved participation. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently said that India is open to playing Pakistan in multinational tournaments, even if bilateral matches are not allowed.

Expected Host Cities and Teams

The full schedule will likely be released soon. According to earlier reports, Dubai and Abu Dhabi will host the matches. Eight teams will take part in the tournament—India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, UAE, Hong Kong, and Oman. There will be 19 matches in total, and the final will be played on Sunday, September 28.

India vs. Pakistan: Three Possible Clashes

India and Pakistan are placed in the same group, which means they may face off three times—once in the group stage, again in the Super 4, and possibly in the final. The event will be held in the T20 format, as it comes before the T20 World Cup in 2026, which will be hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
